Use this guide when you need to change your hours due to holidays, maintenance, private events, etc

Setting holiday hours ensures your online ordering reflects accurate availability for customers. You can you override your normal schedule for specific dates—perfect for closures or adjusted hours on holidays.
📝 Step-by-Step Instructions (Toast)
Log in to Toast Web.
Navigate to the Takeout & delivery section in the left-hand menu.
Click on Online ordering hours.
Select + Add override to create a new schedule for a specific day.
Choose the holiday date
Use the date picker to select the date you want to adjust (example: December 25).
Set your hours for that date:
Check Closed all day, or
Enter specific opening and closing times.
Click Add or Update to save your override.
(Optional) Add a description
For example: “Christmas Day” or “New Year’s Eve Hours.”
Publish your changes
This ensures the updated hours go live for customers.
📝 Step-by-Step Instructions (Square)
Log in to the Open Merchant Portal.
In the left-hand menu, click AI Assistant.
Type a message such as:
“Please close all locations on December 25th.”
“Please set my Walnut Creek store to close early at 4pm on 12/24 for the holidays.”
Review the confirmation response from the AI Assistant.
Once confirmed, the holiday hours will be updated in Open for the selected date(s) and store(s).
This feature cannot be used for merchants who use Toast.
💡 Tips
You can create multiple overrides if you have several holidays or modified days coming up.
Holiday overrides take priority over your regular online ordering schedule.
